During their college phases, Marine Electro-Technical Officer (METO) Cadets will undertake a number of STCW training courses as shown in the example below. However, the actual phase of individual course delivery may vary between nautical colleges.Â

Personal Survival Techniques
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
Proficiency in Elementary First Aid
Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
Security Awareness (ISPS) course
High Voltage – Operational Level
 Additional training courses in Phase 1 may include:

Entry into Enclosed Spaces
Certificate of Proficiency in Basic Oil, Chemical & Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations
